HC Deb 06 March 1885 vol 295 cc296-7
SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL

Before we go into Committee on the Parliamen- tary Elections (Redistribution) Bill, I should like to ask the right hon. Baronet who is in charge of the Bill, the President of the Local Government Board, Whether he could not arrange a conference of English and Scotch Members with the view of some compromise in the spelling of the word "borough," so as to avoid, in connection with Bills applying to the whole of the United Kingdom, the shocking mispronunciation of the word "burgh" as applied to Scotch burghs by Members of this House?
