HC Deb 03 March 1885 vol 294 cc1898-9
MR. GORST

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether the Papers to be laid before the House in reference to the finances of Egypt will comprise the Earl of Northbrook's financial Report?

MR. GIBSON

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, When it is intended to lay upon the Table the Papers disclosing the financial proposals relating to Egypt?

LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICE

(who replied) said: Extracts from the Earl of Northbrook's Report explaining the proposals made by Her Majesty's Government to the Powers regarding the finances of Egypt will be laid before Parliament. The Papers relating to the financial proposals will be laid as soon as the negotiations are concluded, and in full time for any discussion which may take place in Parliament.

MR. GORST

Is it intended to give extracts only, or the Report itself?

LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICE

Extracts; but I think that the hon. and learned Member will find that the extracts are very full, and contain everything material for understanding the negotiations and their history.
