GOURLEYasked the First Lord of the Admiralty, To be good enough to inform the House if it is his intention to appoint a Departmental Committee to inquire into the present system of Dockyard expenditure; if so, whether he will consent to add to the Committee a few men independents the ordinary official routine of Admiralty work?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON)I stated yesterday the circumstances under which a Committee was appointed by the late Board of Admiralty and the nature of the inquiry they were directed to make; and until that inquiry is completed, it is not our intention to extend the scope of their investigations.
