HC Deb 22 July 1885 vol 299 c1594
SIR WILFRID LAWSON

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether there was any truth in the report which had appeared in the newspapers of a great slaughter of Arabs having taken place at Kassala; and whether he had received any information on the subject?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

There appears to have been an attack made upon Kassala, and the attacking party appears to have been defeated. As to the amount of slaughter the Government have no information.
