HC Deb 27 February 1885 vol 294 cc1598-9
MR. BIGGAR

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether Mr. Oliver S. Nugent has recently been appointed a magistrate for county Cavan; what is the qualification of that gentleman for the office; and, does he reside in the county?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

Mr. Oliver Nugent was placed in the Commission of the Peace for the county of Cavan in September last, on the recommendation of the Lieutenant of the county. He is a gentleman of considerable property in the county, and has a residence there; but is understood to be at present serving with his regiment.
