BUCHANANasked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether it will be within the scope of the proposed Select Committee on Army Expenditure to consider the financial relations of the Home and Indian Armies, and the amount and details of the Home charges, in connection with the Indian Army, which are thrown on the Indian Exchequer?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUEE (Mr. CHILDERS)It will be in the province of the Select Committee to decide what items of Army Expenditure it will take up and discuss. I should question whether the details of the Home charges falling on the Indian Exchequer were within the proposed Reference; but this will be a matter for the Committee.
