§ MR. KENNYasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, 1404 If it is usual or legal that the dispensary doctor of a district should be a land agent in the same district; and, whether, in the event of any instances being supplied him of such a state of facts, he will, as President of the Irish Local Government Board, cause steps to be taken to remedy it?
§ MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMANAs a medical officer of a district is not bound to give his whole time to the duties of his office, it would not be illegal, though it is not usual, for him to act as a land agent. If, however, it were shown that a medical officer undertook work of any kind that interfered with his official duties, the Local Government Board would take such steps as appeared necessary to secure due attention to the sick poor.
