HC Deb 26 February 1885 vol 294 cc1405-6
MR. GREGORY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been directed to a statement in The Times and Standard newspapers of the 24th instant, of a meeting of conspirators in Paris, with the avowed object of destroying buildings and sacrificing human life in this Country; and, whether he has any reason to believe such statement to be correct; and, if so, whether he can give the House an assurance of the friendly offices of the French Government in the detection and arrest of the gang?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

No, Sir; the information I have is that these sensational paragraphs are not well founded.
