§ MR. MORGAN LLOYDasked the Vice President of the Committee of Council, Whether, having regard to the fact that the number of students at the University College of Wales at Aberystwith has largely increased since the establishment of the Colleges at Cardiff and Bangor, he will consider the advisability of increasing the Grant to the College at Aberystwith, so as to 479 place it in the same position as the other Colleges?
§ MR. MUNDELLAThe recent success of the Aberystwith College, and, indeed, of all three of the Welsh Colleges, is highly gratifying, and justifies the encouragement which the Government has extended to higher education in Wales. Having regard, however, to the fact that the grant to Aberystwith was settled only about nine months ago, in strict conformity with the wants and wishes of the Governing Body of that College, it is premature to re-open the question until we have had some further experience of its progress and success. We shall not lose sight of the matter to which the hon. Member has called attention.
