§ MR. BRANDThe facts are as stated. Pending the settlement of the question of the retention of the feather bonnet, no provision was made in the Estimates of last year for its issue. Meanwhile, this regiment has, at its own request, been permitted to wear Glengarry caps instead of helmets in full dross. It having, however, been decided to retain the feather bonnet, 1457 money has been included in this year's Estimates for the service, and the officer commanding the regiment has been authorized to make the necessary arrangements for its issue to the men.
