HC Deb 31 October 1884 vol 293 c651
MR. BIGGAR

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, When the examination of candidates, by Civil Service Commissions, for situations in the Customs in Ireland, will take place?

MR. COURTNEY

I presume the hon. Member alludes to the examinations for outdoor officers. These are held simultaneously in the Three Kingdoms when required. At the present time there is an excess of such officers, and there is no immediate prospect of a competition being required. Due notice will be given when one has been arranged.
