HC Deb 13 November 1884 vol 293 c1573
MR. DEASY

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, What has been the result of the investigation into the charges made by Mr. Donovan, editor of The Grenada People newspaper, against certain Officers of H.M.S. Garnet?

SIR THOMAS BRASSEY

A Report was received from the Commander-in-Chief of the North American station with reference to the charges brought by Mr. Donovan against the captain of Her Majesty's Ship Garnet. The Admiralty have informed Captain Montagu that they consider he acted very injudiciously in writing the letters which he addressed to Mr. Donovan, but that they accept his explanation respecting the other charges brought against him by that person.
