HC Deb 13 November 1884 vol 293 c1574
MR. DAWSON

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether it is a fact that the city of Limerick is still proclaimed, and that extra police are still retained; and, if so, if he will state the grounds?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

, in reply, said, that the proclamation of the City of Limerick had not yet been withdrawn, but the extra force, having been from time to time reduced as the state of the city permitted, now numbered 10 men only. The Government had no desire that any of these men should be left in the city a day longer than was necessary, and they would order a further Report on the subject.
