HC Deb 06 November 1884 vol 293 cc1099-100
MR. SALT

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether the preliminary Agreement for the renewal of relations between Great Britain and Mexico has been ratified by the Mexican Congress; and, whether any steps have been taken for the settlement of British claims?

LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICE

The preliminary Agreement for the renewal of relations between Great Britain and Mexico has been passed by the Mexican Senate, and the ratifications were exchanged at Mexico on the 28th ultimo. Her Majesty's Government have no reason to doubt that the Mexican Government will now proceed with the investigation into the British claims provided for in the 1st Article of the Agreement, a copy of which has been laid before Parliament in the Paper, Mexico, No. 1, 1884.
