HC Deb 20 May 1884 vol 288 cc851-2
MR. W. H. SMITH

I should like to ask the Government, Whether it is in their power to give any information to the House as to the position of Admiral Sir William Hewett, as there is considerable anxiety as to his position?

LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICE

The right hon. Gentleman has given me no Notice of this Question; but I can state that there is no cause for any feeling of anxiety as to the position of Admiral Sir William Hewett. News of him has been received at the Admiralty; and if the right hon. Gentleman will put a Question down I dare say I shall be able to answer it to-morrow.
