HC Deb 02 May 1884 vol 287 c1166
MR. A. M'ARTHUR

asked the Secretary to the Local Government Board, Whether a communication was received from the Corporation of Leicester on the 4th March, to the effect that an adjoining rural district has practically no sewerage or drainage system, in consequence of which serious nuisance was being caused to the inhabitants of the borough of Leicester; and, whether the Board has taken any practical action; and, if not, whether there is likely to be further delay by the Board in the matter?

MR. GEORGE RUSSELL

We received a communication from the Town Council of Leicester to the effect stated, and we addressed a letter to the sanitary authority of the rural sanitary district referred to asking for their reply. Not receiving an answer from the sanitary authority, we wrote on the 15th of April pressing for a reply. We are still without an answer, and have again written to the authority requesting a reply without further delay.
