HC Deb 01 May 1884 vol 287 c1051
MR. JUSTIN M'CARTHY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he is able to inform the House as to the composition of the Commission appointed to inquire into the working of the Royal University and Queen's Colleges in Ireland?

MR. TREVELYAN

We are getting along as fast as possible. We are promised the services of three gentlemen out of five who have been named, and we hope to secure the services of two others in a few days.

MR. SEXTON

Has the right hon. Gentleman finally decided whether a Member of this House will be asked to serve?

MR. TREVELYAN

No, Sir; it has been decided no Member of this House will be asked to serve. Perhaps hon. Gentlemen will keep their minds open until they hear the names.
