§ MR. TREVELYANSir, no plan has yet been formulated; but the Irish Government has been in communication with the Commissioners of National Education since the debate raised by the hon. Gentleman. I may state, however, that in the event of the Treasury consenting to any arrangement which would involve increased expenditure, the Estimates which are already before the House would not admit of such arrangement taking effect during the present financial year.
