PULESTONasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Whether, by the provisions of the General Order of 17th January, 1884, issued by the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, a number of Division Officers in the out-door department are now in receipt of smaller salaries than other Officers who are their juniors in rank and service; and, if so, whether the Commissioners of Inland Revenue contemplate taking any action in the matter?
§ MR. COURTNEYSir, this inequality has arisen in a few cases, but to a very small extent; and it can only exist for a brief period. The Inland Revenue Board do not think it necessary to take any action in consequence of it.
