HC Deb 31 March 1884 vol 286 cc1147-8
MR. HEALY

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If there is any prohibition, statutable or other, to the direct landing of cargoes of tea in Ireland from China or India?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. CHILDERS)

No, Sir; I have communicated with the Commissioners of Customs, and I am informed by them that there is no prohibition of any sort to the direct landing of cargoes of tea in Ireland from either China or India. There are, I believe, 16 ports and three creeks in Ireland at which cargoes of tea may be landed.
