HC Deb 27 March 1884 vol 286 cc864-5
MR. ROUNDELL

asked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether, when applications for the grant of a Charter are referred by the Privy Council to the Board of Trade, it is the practice of the Board, before making a Report upon the subject, to give opportunity, by the issue of advertisements or otherwise, for the making of objections; and, whether there is uniformity in the practice of the Board in this matter?

MR. CHAMBERLAIN

When applications for the grant of a Charter are referred by the Privy Council Office to the Board of Trade, it is the uniform practice of the Board of Trade to cause an advertisement to be issued for the purpose of ascertaining what objections there are against the proposed grant.
