HC Deb 24 March 1884 vol 286 c584
MR. W. J. CORBET

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If He will inquire into the circumstances under which the valuation of the holding of Elizabeth Deegan, of Ballyknocker, a tenant on the Collattin Estate of Earl Fitzwilliam, county Wicklow, was raised in 1882, prior to the hearing of her case in the Land Court, from £23 5s. to £25, and reduced again, after the judicial rent was fixed, to the old valuation?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, the Commissioner of Valuation informs me that, in the year 1882, the Revising Officer was informed that the boundary of a farm adjoining Deegan's was incorrectly described in the Ordnance map to the extent of 3½ acres. He therefore altered the valuation; but in the following year he discovered that the land was still in the possession of the owner of the adjoining farm, and he restored the valuation to its original figure.
