HC Deb 10 March 1884 vol 285 c1027
MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether his attention has been directed to the Resolution of the Boards of Guardians of Nenagh, Mountmellick, and other Unions in Ireland, protesting against the absence of any right or power of appeal from the surcharges of Local Government Board Auditors as enforced by the Local Government Board; and, whether he will consider the practicability of amending the Law in this respect?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, I am aware several resolutions have been adopted by Boards of Guardians on this subject. The Local Government Board are not of opinion that any action on the part of their Auditors has rendered such a change in the law necessary; but they are quite willing that the right of appeal shall be given.
