HC Deb 06 March 1884 vol 285 cc653-4
SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Why the Papers regarding Egypt recently presented to Parliament contain no information regarding the Legislative Assembly and other so-called autonomous institutions; and whether any information on that subject will be presented; and, whether it is true, as stated by the correspondent of The Standard, that, though the Legislative Assembly unanimously introduced an amendment in a Municipalities Bill of Mr. Clifford Lloyd, the Bill is to be forthwith promulgated in its original form on the ground that the Assembly has only a consultative voice?

LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICE

During the period covered by the last Blue Book there were no despatches regarding the Legislative Assembly and autonomous institutions. I am not aware whether the facts are as stated in the second paragraph of the hon. Member's Question; but the next mail will probably contain information on the subject.
