§ MR. HEALYasked the Secretary to the Treasury, If it is a rule of the Treasury in cases of re-organisations of public Departments, such as the Inland Revenue Office, &c. to enforce compulsory retirement of all clerks of forty years' service and upwards, and of sixty years of age and upwards; and, if so, whether, in any impending re-organisation in the Board of Works, this rule will be adhered to?
§ MR. COURTNEYSir, there is no such general rule as that suggested by the hon. Member; but I can safely say that we will not retain at the Board of Works any officers of whose continued efficiency we are not certified.
