§ LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICENo, Sir; I regret to say that the United States Government have not, so far as Her Majesty's Government is informed, yet succeeded in tracing what has become of Mr. Sheldon. A telegram was received from Mr. West on the 27th ultimo, stating that the Federal Government has given instructions in the matter, so that all possible steps will be taken on Mr. Sheldon's behalf.
