HC Deb 28 February 1884 vol 285 c75
MR. BRYCE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether it has come to his knowledge that the Act prohibiting the payment of wages in public houses, passed last Session, is being largely evaded in some parts of London; and, if it should appear on inquiry that such is the case, whether he will take steps to have the Law enforced?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

Sir, I have been in communication with the police on this subject; but my information is not yet full enough to make any statement upon it.
