§ MR. SEXTONasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether it has come to his knowledge that the Sub-Commissioners of the Land Court, in the county of Sligo, have been in the habit of staying, at the time of their session, in the houses of landlords directly concerned in cases pending before the Court; whether he is aware that this has excited distrust among the tenant farmers; and, whether he will cause instructions to be issued on this subject to Sub-Commissioners and other functionaries of the Land Court?
§ MR. TREVELYAN, in reply, said, that he had received a communication from the Land Commissioners stating that they had been informed by the Chairman of the Sligo Sub-Commissioners that never, so far as he was aware, had any member of the Commission stayed at the house of any person, landlord or tenant, in the county who had a case pending before the Court; and that in November, 1881, the Land Commissioners issued a Circular to the Assistant Commissioners, recommending them all to decline every proffer of hospitality within their district.
