§ MR. S. SMITHasked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether, having regard to the increasing revenue of the Mercantile Marine Fund, he will consider the possibility of making a reduction in the Light Dues now charged on Merchant Shipping?
§ MR. CHAMBERLAINI am glad to be able to state that I am in a position to recommend a further reduction of 10 per cent in the light dues, to take effect from the 31st of next month. This reduction will increase the reduction to 70 per cent; in other words, the shipowner will pay only 30 per cent of the amount which could be charged.
