HC Deb 04 December 1884 vol 294 c622
MR. CRAIG SELLAR

asked the Vice President of the Committee of Council, Whether Mr. Craik, of the Education Department, was sent to examine into the state of education in the Western Highlands and Islands of Scotland during the summer, and to report; and, if so, whether his Report will be laid upon the Table of the House and distributed to Members?

MR. MUNDELLA

Immediately after the Report of the Crofters' Commission appeared I instructed Mr. Craik to make the inquiry referred to, in order that we might ascertain the best means of promoting education in the Highlands, and of relieving the local burdens complained of by the Commissioners. The Report has been completed within the last few days, and will be at once presented to Parliament.
