HC Deb 01 December 1884 vol 294 cc371-2
THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

In the absence of my right hon. Friend (Mr. Gladstone), who, I hope, will be in his place in a very few minutes, I will, in order to save the time of the House, make the Motion which stands in his name, in, however, a somewhat altered form. It is considered, I believe, that in the event of any protracted discussion on the introduction of the Parliamentary Elections, Redistribution, Bill, it would be very convenient that the Statement on Naval Affairs which has been promised should not come on at an uncertain period of the evening; but that it should be brought on to-morrow. I will, therefore, move the Resolution which stands in my right hon. Friend's name, with the omission of the last paragraph.

Motion made, and Question proposed, That the Orders of the Day he postponed until after the Notice of Motion for leave to bring in a Bill for the Redistribution of Seats."—(The Marquess of Harlington.)

Motion agreed to.
