HC Deb 24 April 1884 vol 287 cc470-1
MR. J. W. BARCLAY

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, with reference to his intimation that an Order in Council had been prepared and would soon be issued, which would restrict the power of local authorities to exclude cattle coming into their districts, Whether he will delay issuing such Order until local authorities have an opportunity of expressing their opinions on the proposition; and, whether the Privy Council will receive a deputation on the subject?

MR. DODSON,

in reply, said, he had not stated that an Order was prepared, but that it was in contemplation to issue one which would restrict the power of local authorities to exclude cattle from their districts. The matter, however, was in abeyance, pending the result of an inquiry into the alleged importation to Bristol of Irish cattle affected with foot-and-mouth disease.
