HC Deb 07 April 1884 vol 286 c1804
LORD HENRY LENNOX

asked the Surveyor General of Ordnance, Whether there would be any objection to lay upon, the Table of the House the Report of the Ordnance Committee as to the merits of the six pound rapid firing shell guns; and, whether he can give the name of the firm that has received the order to supply the 200 guns of this kind which are to be supplied to the Royal Navy?

MR. BRAND,

in reply, said, that it was not in his power to lay upon the Table of the House the Report referred to. The Ordnance Committee was appointed to advise the Secretary of State for War upon important questions having reference to warlike matériel, and it was desirable to consider their Reports as confidential. No order had as yet been given for the manufacture of the guns.
