§ SIR ARTHUR HAYTERSir, the total amount paid by the Government to Messrs. Gilchrist and Walker in the matter of the Montenegrin muleteers—for we know nothing of Mr. Taylor—was £835 10s.; and the items of it were made up as follows:—350 muleteers, each one month's pay at 1s. 6d. a-day, £787 10s.; 16 headmen at £3 per month, or 2s. per day, £48—total, £835 10s.
