HC Deb 28 May 1883 vol 279 c1075

Considered in Committee.

(In the Committee.)

Motion made, and Question proposed, That it is expedient to authorise the grant of a sum of £25,000, out of the Consolidated Fund of the United Kingdom, to Frederick Beauchamp Paget, Lord Alcester, Admiral in Her Majesty's Navy, in lieu of the Annuity of Two thousand pounds per annum, which was proposed to be granted to him in answer to the Message from Her Majesty on the 13th day of April last.

SIR WILFRID LAWSON

supposed that this was a matter of form, in order that the grant to Lord Alcester might be made in the form of a lump sum instead of an annuity. He had no wish to oppose any proceedings at this stage. He, however, intended to oppose a grant of any money at all; and he presumed the best time to do that would be when they were asked to go into Committee after this Resolution had been incorporated in the Bill.

MR. COURTNEY

said, that that was quite the understanding.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolution to be reported To-morrow.
