HC Deb 03 May 1883 vol 278 c1706
COLONEL COLTHUEST

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he will consider the advisability of introducing into the Poor Relief (Ireland) Bill a Clause giving power to the Local Government Board to authorise out-door relief when necessary in any given Union, thus assimilating its powers to those enjoyed by the English Board?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, I have already more than once fully stated in debate the views of the Irish Government on this matter, and I shall be prepared to do so again should occasion arise. I cannot undertake to introduce such a clause as is suggested.
