HC Deb 19 March 1883 vol 277 c792
SIR HENRY HOLLAND

asked the Secretary of State for the Homo Department, Whether a memorial from the Metropolitan Police Magistrates in favour of an increase of the salaries of the chief clerks of the Metropolitan Police Courts has been received; and, whether the matter is still under his consideration?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT,

in reply, said, the matter had been considered by the late Government, and also by himself; and no sufficient grounds had been found for assenting to the proposal of granting an increase of salary to the officers referred to.
