§ MR. GREGORYasked the President of the Board of Trade, If he contemplates bringing in a Bill in the present Session to put the Railway Commission on a permanent footing, and to carry out the recommendations of the Committee on Railway Rates and Fares, with respect to the powers and jurisdiction of such Commission?
§ MR. CHAMBERLAIN,in reply, said, he had answered this Question a short time ago. He then said that it was thought undesirable to bring in any Bill which there was no immediate hope of passing through the House; and at the present time the Government list of measures was so full that he could not promise to give attention to the matter.
§ MR. GREGORYsaid, he would give Notice that he should take an early opportunity of calling the attention of the House to the subject.
§ MR. TOMLINSONasked whether such a Bill could not be brought into the other House?
