asked the First Commissioner of Works, Whether the Government are taking steps for the erection without delay of the proposed extension of the National Gallery; and, whether a Contract has yet been entered into for the execution of the necessary works?

MR. SHAW LEFEVRE,

in reply, said, plans were being prepared as rapidly as possible for the erection of the new building, and he hoped before long to invite the attention of the House to them.
