§ SIR EARDLEY WILMOTasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether it is proposed to employ Irish convict labour in the construction of harbours of refuge in England or Scotland; and, whether it would be practicable to utilise such labour on public works in Ireland?
§ MR. TREVELYANI am not aware, Sir, of any such proposal as is referred to in the first paragraph of this Question. With regard to the second paragraph, the utilization of convict labour on public works in Ireland has been more than once under consideration; but it has not, at present, been found practicable to come to any definite conclusion on the subject.
