§ MR. JAMES STEWARTasked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether he is aware that the account of the Mercantile Marine Find has not been laid before Parliament of a later date than 31st March 1881; and, whether it is not practicable to have this account rendered within three or four months of the end of each financial year?
§ MR. CHAMBERLAINThe accounts for the year ending March 31, 1882, are in print, and will be laid before Parliament at once. Some questions were raised by the Controller and Auditor General, to whom these accounts have to be submitted, and these questions had to be settled before the accounts could be presented. I will make inquiry, and see whether steps cannot be taken to insure those accounts in future being laid upon the Table at an earlier date.
