§ SIR ALEXANDER GORDONasked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If he will lay upon the Table of the House an estimate of the probable expense of providing a staff of officials and clerks, with the necessary offices, which will be required for carrying on the business to be transacted by the proposed Local Government Board for Scotland.
§ SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT, in reply, said, it was not possible to make any accurate estimate of the probable expense before the Bill had been discussed; but it would not be a large amount. It was not contemplated that this Office would require a considerable staff.
