GORSTasked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he had received any information of a protest made by the counsel of Khandeel against the sentence which had been inflicted upon him by Court Martial at Alexandria, and whether the Government would endeavour to restrain the departure of Khandeel until the matter had been considered?
§ LORD EDMOND FITZMAURICEI stated yesterday, in reply to a very similar Question, that the Report of Major Macdonald had not been received; but I read a telegram from him to the effect that the trial, and, he believed, the sentence were perfectly fair, and, under these circumstances, it was not the intention of the Government to interfere.
