HC Deb 02 July 1883 vol 281 cc48-9
MR. O'DONNELL

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether it is true that Native gentlemen in Hyderabad, who were engaged in the opposition against the terms of a Railway concession to a London Company, have been forcibly deported from Hyderabad with the sanction of the British authorities and conveyed to British territory; and, what offence was committed by the opponents of the Railway scheme, and why they were not brought to trial instead of being removed to British territory?

MR. J. K. CROSS

Sir, in reply to this Question, I can only say that there has been considerable feeling shown in Hyderabad—under the mistaken idea that the Government of India were endeavouring to force upon the Nizam's Government a certain railway scheme. We have no official Report of what has occurred; but the Government of India will be asked to furnish one.
