§ MR. TOTTENHAMasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether Mr. Peter Fitzpatrick, of Corween, Ballybay, has recently been appointed a Sub-Commissioner under the Land Act; whether he is aware that he is an active member of the Land League; whether he attended a Land League meeting at Lattin Chapel, near Coote-hill, in the early part of 1881, when Mr. M'Aleese, the editor of the "People's Advocate," was in the chair; and, whether he was present and took the chair at another meeting of the same nature at Scots house, county Monaghan, about the same date?
§ MR. TREVELYANMr. Peter Fitzpatrick, of Corween, Ballybay, has recently been appointed a Sub-Commissioner under the Land Act. He never was a member, active or otherwise, of the Land League, and he did not attend the meetings referred to in the Question. There was evidently some confusion between him and the Mr. Fitzpatrick residing in the neighbourhood.
§ MR. GIBSONasked was the other Mr. Fitzpatrick called Peter also?
§ MR. TREVELYANSome confusion exists; but there is no doubt that my answer is perfectly correct.
