HC Deb 23 February 1883 vol 276 c707
MR. GOURLEY

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, If it be correct that Her Majesty's yacht, "Victoria and Albert," is to be repaired; if so, at what cost; and, whether the officers and crew are to be retained on full pay until the vessel is ready for sea, or transferred to some other vessel in Commission?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

Yes, Sir; it is intended to repair the Victoria and Albert. The cost will be about £45,000. The crew will be retained on full pay, and, so far as they are not required for the personal service of Her Majesty, they will be employed on duties connected with the Steam Reserve.
