HC Deb 19 February 1883 vol 276 cc315-6
MR. PARNELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary, Whether it is true that more than one person has died of starvation in Ireland since the House adjourned last Session?

MR. TREVELYAN

This is a Question regarding which I feel bound to ask for Notice. But I should be unwilling to convey the idea to the hon. Member that that is owing to my own neglect, because I have never seen any Reports of persons dying of starvation or want about which I have not most carefully inquired; and hitherto I am satisfied that such has not been the case.
