HC Deb 16 August 1883 vol 283 cc739-40
MR. D. GRANT

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whe- ther his attention has been directed to the fact that the Zoological Gardens drain into the Regent's Canal, that the present state of the Canal is a danger to the public health; and, whether he proposes to take any steps to remedy the evil?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

said, the Question stated as a fact that the present condition of the Regent's Canal was dangerous to the public health. If the Canal was in such a condition, he was not aware of any reason why the local authority should not proceed against the Company under the ordinary Act for the removal of nuisances.
