HC Deb 09 August 1883 vol 282 c2104
MR. GORST

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whether, as the Admiralty have recognised the important and responsible duties that the loading men of the Chief Engineer's Department in the Royal dockyards have to perform, they will make a similar improvement in their position and pay to that made in the case of the leading men of shipwrights in the Chief Constructor's Department?

SIR THOMAS BRASSEY (for Mr. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN)

Sir, the case of the leading men of the Chief Engineer's Department in the Royal Dockyards is under consideration, but no decision has yet been arrived at. I hope, however, shortly to be able to announce it.
