HC Deb 03 August 1883 vol 282 c1478
COLONEL NOLAN

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If any body, beard, or authority in Ireland is at present in possession of a portable hospital which can be put at the disposal of any union in which cholera may break out; and, if any beard, office, or person in Ireland has authority to occupy any site which it or he may think the best for a temporary cholera hospital?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, in two or three cases the sanitary authorities have floating hospitals, or other hospitals, for infectious diseases; but, so far as we know, there is no body or authority at present in possession of a portable hospital, which can be put at the disposal of another authority in whose district cholera may break out. Every sanitary authority has power to provide a temporary hospital for the use of its own district.

COLONEL NOLAN

MR. TREVELYAN

said, the authority could be given under Provisional Order.
